It looks like we got all the references that we are going to. Please feel free to post comments for all applications except mystical. His application came in literally at the last minute, so I will give his references 24 hours to respond.
For all others, it's hunting season, people. Also, if you can think of someone that might make a good staff member, but the person did not apply, post their nick here and we'll see what happens.
My vote is going on Baralai .... Ive spoke with him in chat and he comes with a good referance. Im not sure what the number is on how many we are adding so I'll leave Baralai as my choose till we see if we are replace any others with stale o-lines. If i'm right this is to replace Dangermouse aka Andrew for now. But if im wrong I'll reply my other choices.

My vote is also with Baralai. I know that I can absolutely trust him, and he will take his responsibilites seriously.
*addition* I asked vercz this morning about his reference for Baralai, he said he had sent it in, so it must be lost in cyberspace somewhere.
So far, I too am leaning with Baralai... but not so much for who his references are, but more for what both they, and what he said.
Out of the entire lot, they were all insistant that they were very knowledgable with IRCD and Services, many claiming to have their own server or be staff on another. This can cause 2 problems...
1: Those that have their own server, the chances are 95% that they begged me to help them set it up... this tells me they are not good at taking instructions and following them through... instead hoping someone else will pick up the slack they leave.
2: A conflict of interest. If they are spending their time staffing other servers, how much time will they spend monitoring and assisting on this one?
Beralai was honest in his application. He did not have much IRCD experience, he was not experienced as a sysop, he was basically a newbie... but that he was willing to learn. This was fueled by the references (that I received ;)).
My second choice would have to be Freak. Although not at the top of my list, I will have to say that Freak has been very loyal to the network, and has at times gone out of his way to try and keep #xttr on the network, and was the first person to have my back in there when the inner struggles between #xttr and TCN were taking place... sometimes even beating me to a ban.
I can not in good concience endorse overdose. I spoke with him recently, and he appears to be sincerely sorry for the actions he chose to take against #graphixground (while +a in #xttr), but that does not remove the fact that he did still violate trust, and intentionally cause disruptions to a senior room on the network by way of verbal abuse and banhopping (Yes Tami, #gg is a senior room on the network, holding a good 40% of the total userbase... remaining 60% being split between #xttr and #bobsplace).
Radar, I do not know enough about him to endorse his application. It's like he came out of nowhere, and like the other applications, seems to be just a little on the "too perfect to be true" side of things.
Mystical, only the Gods know. I haven't gotten any references back for him, but then again I just got the application this afternoon. So I'll wait on him...
Baralai here too
Baralai is a great guy. I've spoken to him in chat and in PM from time to time. His personality is rather level-headed and calm. I may not know him all that well, but from what I do know from him, I'd have to recommend him actually. He seems like a quick learner, so sending him to the Auspice services page that we have would give him a good start. Of course, the NetAdmins and current Sysops are able to assist him as he learns anyways [for the most part]. So I think that'd be just fine and dandy.
Freak, I'd have to agree with Scott here too. He's the second choice I've had in mind. Josh (Freak) has a pretty leveled out personality. And back during the TCN 'wars' if you will, he did defend the network at every chance he got by banning those that were causing the deliberate issues between the two networks from the #xttr channel. He's a great guy, so he'd be at least the second person I'd recommend out of the applicants at the moment.
Overdose, oi vey. With all the problems [e-drama] that we've been having, OD's apology wasn't even kept in trust either (between he and Tami). Sadly, I'd simply have to say I'm not going to recommend him at all. Atl east not at the moment. In the trust department, he's lacking a bit of it. His personality is a bit biased to his friends and it'd probably get in the way of the network (causing internal e-drama more so than we have been dealing with).
About Radar, his application seems a bit too ...'squeaky clean', if that makes sense. It seemed to have appeared out of right field as well, so I'm not sure if it's a good application or one just for the sakes of being a Sysop on the network. In all due respect, he does know a faint bit about mIRC (from what I've seen him speak about), but that doesn't mean that everything on the application is going to be 100% accurate either. So, I'm just going to leave this one out as a "Maybe another time, but....probably not" application.
I think that's all of them..if I forgot one, I'll simply edit this post. No problemo.
David
I think we should bring on more than one o-line, we have 3 now who seem to be stale, not alive or whatever you want to call it. Maybe we dont actually need so many at the moment but it would be nice to have a few trained in'case we get hoppin' big time around here.
Didnt vulture put an app in as well?
Also we need to remember that mIRC isnt the only irc client out there... just because you know it doesnt mean you know how to handle an o-line, I would like to see someone have some experience in pirch or others too.
I used to use Pirch...years ago....on TalkCity.
I was actually thinking of opening up 2 slots... and a third if the activity increases.
As for Vulture, I never received an application from him, no...
Vulture won't be 16 until July 17, however he does have sysop experience on ircd as he was senior sysop on TCN.
