I recently bought a shell account, and one of the things I am allowed is irssi/screen, which will basically allow me to chat through irssi while I am online... and use screen to make it stay connected while I am offline... the main reason I dd this is so I can log conversations etc, and also install tcl scripts, such as the devoice script the kg staff will be implementing... the only problem with this is, that I cannot connect to any of the servers in the pso network, I'm thinking this will be due to a security measure, either that or the hostname "members.aeshells.org" has been denied access.
I'd just like to know if theres any chance of connecting the client, as it would be nice :msnsmile:
but if not (if its an unavoidable security measure) its no problem.
nero... e-mail me (NightStorm (a) publicservicesonline.com) the IP that your shell account will be using, and I will make sure that it is properly added to the network bypass list, as well as the server firewall.
Also, given the use, have you considered an eggdrop? You can chat through them with telnet, and they would always be connected as well... if so, you might be able to suck Ada's extra background process from her for the purpose... 😉

type of messages, maybe my client won't connect unless it gets those :unsure:
I hope thats not it though, because that'll mean I can't connect 🙁
ah well, I'll just leave it trying to connect for a while actually, as eggdrop had similar problems, but connected after about 6 hours (wierd lol) ty for the help :msnwink:
Problem solved 😀 😀 I managed to connect to 24.231.151.248... about 20 mins before posting this, ty NS! for anything you did, if you did anything that is, It might have just been my lack of experience with this client... didn't have any luck connecting to irc.publicservicesonline.com/irc.isyourgod.com though, but oh well 😀 I'm happy now 😉 ty again
You might want to try pso server again. 24.231 server is going to be delinked for a few days... which would sort of defeat the purpose of you using the program anyway.
Give it a try right now.

It'll probably be Monday. Do you happen to know exactly what error the bot is receiving when it tries to connect?
I hate the idea of you paying for that service and not even being able to use it... I'd love to get it sorted for you.
it just seems to hang there for a while, eventually I get *connection timed out* and theres nothing in the logs.
